“Economic Harmonisation”: ‘NO’-santo

Our worst nightmare in the area of organic farming is about to come true. There is a conspiracy among multinational GM companies [and their friends, the puppets in government], to make Organic farming unviable by regulating them out of the market. The day is almost upon us. The global companies with their puppeteers in government are about to make it impossible for you to buy anything other than their products.

Codex Alimentarus has slowly crept to the back of my mind over the past year.  For anyone just beginning to delve into the magical world of Codex Alimentarius it can be pretty scary.

As soon as 31st December 2009 the Codex Alimentarius Commission will be disregard input from those who offer a counter perspective to the combined forces of Big Farmer & Big ‘Pharma’.

Transnational corporations who are primarily focused on increasing their market share, by pushing their desired and arbitrary regulatory “standards” (not mine or yours) into a global standard all in the name of “international regulatory excellence”. It’s just another arm of the planetary regime ideology imposed by the NWO-mongers.

CA concerns all food traded internationally and allows high doses of pesticides, veterinary drugs, synthetic hormones, contaminants, artificial sweeteners, and other dangerous compounds and processes while it forbids health claims for food. Codex sets advisory standards and guidelines which nations may adopt or modify.

This global food police ensures countries are required to purchase from trans-national corporations in favour of their own locally produced goods (in the name of “lowering trade barriers“). What a joke. Just take a look at who is running the show…

Founded in 1962 by the UN to establish international free trade foods codex Alimentarius is jointly administered by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) through annual and regional meetings. Codex is an annual World Health Organisation (WHO) sponsored gathering of delegates in Europe, many of them members of the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR).

CA recommendations are then adopted by regulators such as the Australian TGA or the US FDA by various direct or indirect means that end up as Acts and amendments that are passed into law by Parliaments or Congress, usually without public debate. Of course, this is another example of globalisation and unconstitutional UN treaties, but messing with our global food supplies is just plain nasty. The elite of course have their own seed banks God bless ’em. While us undesirables are left with the likes of Monsanto, ADM, Sodexo and Tyson run the seed show across the globe. Seed control is ultimately food control: Didn’t Stalin nationalize farming methods that enabled his administration to gain control over the food supply?  Didn’t Stalin use the food to control the people?

It is now a criminal offence in parts of Europe to sell herbs as foods. An agreement called EEC6565 equates selling herbs as foods to selling other illegal drugs. Action is being taken to accelerate other European countries into ‘HARMonization’ as well. [read more]

CA is seemingly based neither on science nor democracy. Unelected bureaucrats, operating at the behest of industry and trade interests, not public health, make decisions which become domestic and international standards when enacted as law by the member states of the WTO. Mind you, what’s new? [P.s. those of you who thought you lived in a democracy are very, very, very much mistaken.

These standards represent the ultimate triumph of greed over good science, good sense, good health and good intent. The reach and influence of CA is (of course) global: There are at present 180 member countries.

Has this influence done more harm than good?  Has the world seen an increase in the availability of healthy food products and fair trade?  China is producing toxic baby formula.  The USA is trying to legislate seed cleaning and seed banks.  Use of toxic food additives like aspartame are increasingly pervasive in common international food products, including those products intended for children. I intend to write a few posts about Aspartame as I believe more people should be aware of this poison in our diet.

I have also learnt (surprise, surprise) that we may be exposing ourselves to GM ingredients even when buying organic products:

“We have recently observed that many soya products now carry ‘GM free’ or ‘organic’ labels, both of which imply an absence of GM ingredients in these foods.  However, most of the soya now produced in the world comes from GM varieties.”

Professor Murphy of Glamorgan University, UK

Don’t you feel just a tad shafted?!

For those of us committed to improving or maintaining our health by eating a balanced organic diet, the agenda of corporate farming and governmental regulations complying with the Codex Alimentarius proposals spell disaster.  This not only affects our access and right to additive-free, pesticide-free, industrially produced chemical-fertilizer-free and non-genetically-modified organic foods, it also threatens every participating country’s rights of national sovereignty.  In the United States of America the new federal food bills also threaten the constitutional sovereignty of the states.

Our challenge is to demonstrate that no corporate strategy can be effective against the universal desire to retain the basic human right to food and health freedom.

Oh I do hope the Obama’s wee little veggie patch isn’t left out by the Food Police.
